In the past few decades several different species of the genus Oxalis have been recorded as new to Belgium. Horticultural activities play an important role in the introduction and local dispersal of both cultivated species (as garden escapes) and weeds. A key for the identification of twelve species is followed by brief comments. Particular attention is drawn to gaps in the present state of our knowledge: distribution and status in Belgium, morphological variation within certain species, and identification problems.}, url = {http://www.br.fgov.be/DUMORTIERA/DUM_101/Dum\%20101_9-22_Oxalis_Hoste.pdf}, author = {Ivan Hoste} } @article {dum4450, title = {Mediterrane brandnetels in Gent: Urtica pilulifera en Urtica membranacea}, journal = {Dumortiera}, volume = {100}, year = {2012}, month = {04/2012}, pages = {29-32}, chapter = {29}, author = {Wouter Van Landuyt and Ivan Hoste and De Rycke} } @article {dum3523, title = {The Naturalisation History of Echinochloa Muricata in Belgium, With Notes on its Identity and Morphological Variation}, journal = {Belg. Fernald (native in North America) has long been confused with Echinochloa crus-galli (L.) P. Beauv. (native in Europe). After its introduction in Europe, it took a long time before it was recognised, and later confusion lingered on, in part because the variability of E. muricata was not sufficiently taken into account in keys and descriptions. In the present paper, the difference between E. crus-galli and E. muricata is discussed, and the variability of E. muricata is illustrated. Belgian herbarium specimens labelled E. crus-galli and E. muricata have been revised. Since 1887 (year of the first collection) E. muricata var. microstachya Wiegand has gradually spread and is now locally naturalised and abundant, whereas var. muricata is only known as a rare casual.}, keywords = {aliens, Belgium, Echinochloa muricata, Poaceae}, author = {Ivan Hoste} } @article {dum3518, title = {Invasieve en andere niet-inheemse planten}, journal = {Groencontact}, volume = {36}, year = {2010}, pages = {6-9}, chapter = {6}, author = {Ivan Hoste} } @article {dum3517, title = {Een nieuw Amerikaans stadsgras in Belgi{\"e}: Muhlenbergia mexicana}, journal = {Dumortiera}, volume = {98}, year = {2010}, month = {4/2010}, pages = {10-12}, chapter = {10}, abstract = {A new American urban grass species in Belgium: Muhlenbergia mexicana. Around 1975, Cardamine corymbosa Hook.f. was introduced to the British Isles, most probably with nursery plants imported from New Zealand. Some years later it appears to have crossed the North Sea and is now spreading in the Netherlands and Belgium. An overview of records for both countries is given, together with notes on its identification, ecology and potential as an invasive alien following exchanges between nurseries, plant centres and gardeners. It is shown that so far only little information about its introduction and spread has been exchanged between botanists and horticulturists.}, author = {Ivan Hoste and Ren{\'e} R.C.M J.
