Berteroa incana

Berteroa incana (L.) DC. (syn.: Alyssum incanum L.) (C and E-Eur., C-As.) – A rather common, widely naturalized alien. Already known in Belgium around 1600 (Durand 1899). Early records often suggest an introduction with cereals (formerly commonly seen around mills). Much extending in the 20th century. At present most commonly encountered around Antwerpen, in the Kempen and near Brussel and Gent (see Van Landuyt 2006). The species is apparently less frequent in Wallonia. Berteroa incana always grows on dry, sunny often stony substrates, usually railway banks and –yards, artificial sand scapes, road verges, etc.
