Diplachne fusca subsp. uninervia

1. Diplachne fusca subsp. uninervia (J. Presl) (J. Presl) P.M. Peterson & N. Snow (syn.: Leptochloa fusca (L.) Kunth subsp. uninervia (J. Presl) N. Snow, Diplachne uninervia (J. Presl) Parodi) (Am.) – An exceptional and ephemeral grain alien. Recorded only once by a railway track in the port of Gent in 1998 (Verloove & Vandenberghe 1999).

Diplachne uninervia is rather easily distinguished from D. fascicularis and D. fusca s. str. in Belgium. However, on a global scale these taxa more or less overlap and have been accommodated in a collective taxon (D. fusca) by Snow (1998). Molecular data (e.g. Peterson & al. 2015) confirm that there are very few genetical differences between the subspecies of D. fusca.
