Helichrysum petiolare

2. Helichrysum petiolare Hilliard et B.L. Burtt (S-Afr.) – Nowadays much-cultivated in Belgium, especially in hanging baskets (less frequently also in borders). Known since 2008 as an (ephemeral) escape in urban areas (foot of walls, pavement, etc.). Recorded for instance in Edegem, Geel and Kontich.

Similarly recorded in several other parts of Europe. In the British Isles recently claimed as naturalised (Stace 2010). In southern Europe known since quite some time on rocky sea cliffs and locally naturalised or even invasive, for instance in northern Spain (http://mediorural.xunta.es/fileadmin/arquivos/conservacion_natureza/biodiversidade/especies/especies_invasoras/Helichrysum_petiolare.pdf).
