Mauranthemum Vogt & Oberpr.
Mauranthemum, a segregate of Leucanthemum Mill., counts four species in North Africa and southwestern Europe. Its generic status now has become widely accepted (e.g. Oberprieler & al. 2009, Stace 2010), although some authors still include it is Leucanthemum (e.g. Mabberley 2008). It was segregated on morphological and cladistic grounds (Bremer & Humphries 1993) and this seems to corroborate with molecular data (e.g. Oberprieler & al. 2009). One species, Mauranthemum paludosum, is widely cultivated as an ornamental and has been recorded as an escape in Belgium.
