Myrrhis odorata (L.) Scop. (S and C-Eur.) – A rather rare, locally naturalized escape from cultivation or throw-out. Already cited as early as 1811 (Durand 1899). By far most records are from Wallonia, especially in the area south of rivers Sambre and Meuse (Saintenoy-Simon & al. 1995). In Flanders Myrrhis odorata is much rarer and most records are rather ephemeral (more or less stable populations are present in the Bosbeekvallei in Limburg; e.g. Verloove 2002). Myrrhis odorata is usually found in more or less damp, nitrophilous and rather shady habitats: wood margins, hedges or roadverges. In such habitats it is able to naturalize locally.
