Perilla

Perilla L.

Perilla is a genus of 6-7 poorly distinguished species (a single, variable species according to some authors, for instance Shu 1994), native to Asia (India to Japan). One species, Perilla frutescens, is often cultivated as an oil crop or, less frequently, as an ornamental.
