Plantago ovata

Plantago ovata Forssk. (syn.: P. decumbens Forssk.) (SW-Eur., N-Afr., SW-As., Atl. Isl.) – A very rare and ephemeral alien. Recorded only three times in Belgium. Seen at first in 1906 in Liège. In the 1950’s collected in the valley of river Vesdre (1953, probably as a wool alien) and in Brussels (1956, without obvious vector of introduction).

Plantago ovata is a rare alien in Europe. It has been recorded also in the British Isles (Clement & Foster 1994).
