Silene muscipula L. (Medit.) – A rare and always ephemeral alien. First recorded in coastal dunes in Koksijde and Sint-Idesbald in 1918 and 1919 (near a military camp). In 1933 also seen on waste land in Tribomont. Last seen on a railway yard where wagons with cereals are stored in the port of Gent in 2000. Records from 1997 in Roeselare, Gent and Turnhout (see Verloove & Vandenberghe 1998) turned out to belong to the very similar Silene stricta.
Silene muscipula is much reminiscent of S. stricta. However, its calyx is not winged (see also under S. stricta).
