Revision of Dittrichia viscosa from Fri, 2016-09-30 09:56

2. Dittrichia viscosa (L.) Greuter (syn.: Inula viscosa (L.) Ait., Erigeron viscosum L.) (Medit.) – A very rare alien. Formerly recorded as a wool alien in the Vesdre valley near Ensival in 1907. Known since 1997 from a coal dust slope in the port of Antwerpen (N-side of Delwaidedok). At first slightly extending locally but part of the population was destroyed after infrastructural works (as seen in 2012). Also discovered in the central reservation of the A12 motorway near Schelle in 2008 (a single specimen and apparently ephemeral) and on rough ground in Genk in 2011 (confirmed in 2012; see here: http://waarnemingen.be/waarneming/view/61943826# ). Finally, in 2014 a single individual was discovered in the Waaslandhaven in Kallo.

Belgian populations belong to Dittrichia viscosa s.str. (see Brullo & de Marco 2000), the most widespread of this species-complex in the Mediterranean region.
