Loncomelos brevistylus (Wolfner) Dostál (syn.: Ornithogalum brevistylum Wolfner, O. pyramidale L. nomen confusum) (C Eur.) – A very rare, possibly locally more or less naturalized garden escape. A single individual was first discovered in calaminarian grassland in Prayon (Trooz) in 1987. The species grew in the exceptionally valuable reserve of Tri Mottet (Duvigneaud & Jortay 1994) but was apparently not confirmed subsequently. Since 2012 a small population persists in woodland in Yvoir. In the latter locality it was apparently introduced on purpose but was able to establish itself in pinewood (Pinus sylvestris) (comm. F. Hela).
This species is better known as Ornithogalum pyramidale L. This binomial, however, should be rejected since Linnaeus based his name on a plant he had not seen and which lectotype (see Stearn 1983) probably belongs to O. arcuatum Steven or a related species (Wittmann 1985).
